We drove from Marseille to Aix-en-Provence in the morning where Lindsay and I explored while my parents went to a meeting. Aix is a very old city that has changed hands many times over the centuries. It was once the capital of Provence. We were happy for some dry weather. We (especially Lindsay) thoroughly enjoyed the marchée.
And especially the spices.
Flower market ouside the Hotel de Ville.
Just exploring old Aix-en-Provence:
The church of Saint-Jean-de-Malte was the first in Provence and built in the 13th century.
I had to restrain myself from buying a pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant) and/or baguette at every bakery/patisserie we passed by on every corner. Sometimes I failed.
My parents picked us up at this fountain, and we headed out.
