After a great hotel breakfast, we packed up our stuff and headed out. Before leaving Oslo, we stopped at the famous Vigeland sculpture park.

We almost didn't go but I'm so glad we did. It is the largest sculpture park in the world created by a single artist, containing more than 200 sculptures by Gustav Vigeland in bronze, granite and cast iron.

Lindsay and I both agreed that the artwork was deeply moving; sculptures depicting a vast array of human emotions, the complete circle of human life, everyday relationships, and shared emotional journeys. It was easy to see yourself represented in a sculpture or two.

The centerpiece of the park isThe Monolith (Monolitten), a 56 foot high single granite piece featuring 121 intertwined human figures—men, women, and children—spiraling upward toward the top, seeiming to represent the human struggle.
The Wheel of Life (Livshjulet) is the central theme of the park, symbolizing eternity and rebith from infancy to adulthood to the grave.

All in all, a nice time at the sculpture park.

We then hit the road headed south. About 3 hours from Oslo, we arrived in Gothenburg, Sweden's second largest city. We checked into our hotel and went walking around the city. We strolled up and down the Haga Nygata, the main pedestrian street through the oldest part of the city.

We stopped at Cafe Husaren, a pastry and snack shop famous for serving the Hagabulle, a giant cinnamon bun the size of a dinner plate. Another nutritious meal!

We had a pizza dinner and headed back to the hote, wnding the night with a stroll along the marina outside the hotel
