After hitting up yet another bakery for breakfast, we left Gothenburg in the morning and headed south towards Denmark. Passing through the Swedish city of Malmö, we stopped before crossing the Øresund Bridge, which is the the second longest bridge in Europe. The bridge and it's continuation as the Øresund Tunnel (which goes below the sea) directly connects the Scandinavian Peninsula to the Danish island of Zealand (on which is the city of Copenhagen), traversing both over and under the Øresund Straight of the Baltic Sea. 

Arriving in Copenhagen, we explored and had lunch at the super eclectic and fun Reffen Street Food Market - a really cool space consisting of dozens of street food vendors from across the globe, and built primarily from repurposed shipping containers, giving it a raw, urban vibe while providing beautiful views of Copenhagen’s harbor. 

From there we headed to our hotel in Copenhagen (København), dropped off our stuff and the car, and jumped on the light rail to Kongens Nytorv ("King's New Square"), a central public square in the oldest part of Copenhagen.

From there we walked to nearby Nyhavn, the starting point for our Harbor Tour.

Although it was no doubt a very touristy thing to do, we loved the boat tour around the harbor and city, and learned a bunch about Copenhagen's history and architecture, with a great view of some amazing buildings--old and modern and everything in between.

After the tour we walked around beautiful Nyhavn (which ironically means "new harbor"). Nyhavn is Copenhagen’s iconic 17th-century waterfront and canal district, famous for its brightly colored townhouses and historic wooden ships.

The area is truly beautiful and actually kind of magical. It felt like a movie set, but in reality, the majestic, old-school wooden boats moored along the inner canal are actually fully functional, real-world working ships. 

We enjoyed the sun going down over Nyhavn from the Nyhavnsbroen (bridge).

Despite the crowds, we thoroughly enjoyed walking along the quay, looking for a place to eat along the harbor. 

   We finally settled on a place and despite the tourist mark-up enjoyed a beautiful meal in a gorgeous setting.

After dinner I had to get the tripod out and snap some final shots of Nyhavn.

We made our way back to the hotel, and finally hit the sack after a spirited game of hearts:
