We left Aix-en-Provence and drove to Gordes with my folks at about noon.
Gordes is a beautiful Provencial village that sits on a hill overlooking the Calavon Valley.
It was likely founded in about the 8th century. The castle (at the top of the hill on the left) was built in the 11th century, the abbey (at the top of the hill on the right) in about the 12th.
The view of the valley was stunning and we were glad these gray clouds didn't dump on us.
We drove to the vilage center and parked by the castle.
We explored the stone streets of the old village and perused a few of the knick-knack shops. I can't believe people actually live here.
Can you believe a girl that looks like this is with a chump like me? Me neither.
One of my new favorite villages in France.
