We left Aix-en-Provence and drove to Gordes with my folks at about noon.

Gordes, France Gordes is a beautiful Provencial village that sits on a hill overlooking the Calavon Valley.

Gordes, France It was likely founded in about the 8th century. The castle (at the top of the hill on the left) was built in the 11th century, the abbey (at the top of the hill on the right) in about the 12th.

We drove to the vilage center and parked by the castle.
