We woke up in Bergen and headed to the train station for a day of unabashed tourism. Our full-day "Norway in a Nutshell" tour began at the Bergen train station, where we boarded a train with hundreds of other visitors (not my favorite way to vacation) and headed into the countryside. Still, there is a reason so many people do the tour. The scenery way amazing.

The train stopped outside of Myrdal so we could get a look at the impressive Kjossfossen.

It was here that the tour informed us of the strange Norwegian myth of The Huldra -- a seductive, beautiful forest spirit who looks human from the front, but is given away by a cow's tail from behind! They had some lady in red dancing up by the waterfall demonstrating the Huldra's tempting nature. Here is Lindsay and Jay giving their best tempting Huldra impression:

We then transferred to the famous Flam railway, a smaller, quaint train that took us through some gorgeous scenery to Flam, at the mouth of the Aurlandsfjord.

We explored the small village of Flam while waiting for our cruise. Here we tried our first vaffel with brunost, jam, and sour cream. Not bad.

Despite the cold wind, the weather was decent and the views of our first fjords were stunning.

Once the cruise arrived back in Gudvangen, we took a bus and then another train back to Bergen, where we couldn't help but grab another hot dog at Trekronen,

and watch the sun go down on the Bryggen.
